Assignment 2-Henry Lee

The argument that Davis and Shadle make is that the traditional research paper method isn't effective and shouldn't be used anymore. The two are arguing that the modernistic research methods are better for the writer and helps them develop more as a writer than the tradition methods would. They seem to say research writing is a common paper that is written by 84 percent of first-year composition courses and 40 percent of advanced composition courses.
I think Davis and Shadle's proposal for research writing is better than the traditional research papers as stated in many books and journals that assist students on how to compose a research paper. This paper helped me understand inquiry-based research writing a lot more because before this article I didn't know of any other ways to compose a research paper that differed from the traditional methods. My ideas about research has changed since reading this essay because I think that their proposed ideas are intriguing. The types of projects that would fit into this model for research writing would be creative writing courses and advanced composition courses could use this model to deepen the education for their students by providing them a new way of looking at research writing by combining different mediums and genres.

I am glad that you're beginning to re-think your ideas about research writing and research in general; it's one of the aims of the course!

But this response is far, far too short to earn more than a check minus-- it's vague, does not offer enough explanation, and it is far too general. It doesn't really show me whether you have really read the article beyond a cursory glance. The aim is to really think through the ideas we're discussing and reading about in writing.
