The question I tested out was "How has social networking changed the way in how we communicate"? The terms that I researched on included; social networking and communication, communication, Facebook, twitter, four square, changes in communication, and Google plus. Some trends that I noticed while on the libraries webpage are that social media sites and app are revolutionizing the way us humans communicate with each other and companies also use these services to communicate with their customers. One of the most noticeable trends I saw was that almost all of the articles I looked over were peer-review. This is an important factor because this usually means that the article is likely to be recent.
After learning about how to use the library databases and spending a little outside class time really showed me that the amount of articles that I have access to is limitless and no matter what keywords I search for, something interesting will likely be found. I think I like the article search better than the book search because the book search returned a lot of results but they were all scattered and not as easy to find what I am looking for. So as we continue to learn about inquiry and how to research our questions, I believe that many sources from the library database will be on my works cited page after completing my research paper.
So from here I will have many other sources of information rather than relying on Google for all of my information. Also the book search that is provided will also aid in my preparation because I can look up all of the books I need for my topic before I go check them out at the library and this will save me time. Finally I think that any good question that can lead to inquiry will have many results but I just need to know what keywords will trigger the right articles and books to be searched for.
This is a good start, Henry-- but as we saw in class, you might need to revise this a little bit to be more specific. What kind of communication are you looking at? And what changes are you going to explore? This way, you can find more of what you need to answer that question.
